BC-306: 1 & 2 TIMOTHY, TITUS, PHILEMON

About this course

The letters of 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus have been grouped together and referred to as the “Pastoral Epistles” because they are addressed to individuals charged with the oversight of certain churches. These letters represent the last stage of the apostle's life and labors, with his parting counsels to his beloved disciples and fellow-workers.

Paul wrote 1 Timothy to encourage Timothy both to protect the churches at Ephesus from false teachings and doctrines and to encourage the formation of a Christ like community. Paul also includes many instructions about the administration of the local church.

Paul’s second letter to Timothy was written before he was put to death. 2 Timothy is Paul’s last words to encourage Timothy and all Christians to persevere in the faith and to proclaim the gospel of the Lord Jesus.

The Book of Titus was written by Paul to encourage Titus, about what he should do to correct the matters that were lacking to properly establish the churches in Crete. To give instruction concerning the opposition he was facing, to warn about false teachers, and give instructions concerning faith and conduct.

Paul’s personal letter to Philemon provides a window into the pastoral methods of the apostle Paul and the home churches of the first century.

This course is a verse-by-verse study of the 3 “Pastoral Epistles” written by apostle Paul to Timothy and Titus and a personal letter to Philemon.

These letters have a wealth of material and information for pastors as well as all believers. They are rich in practical wisdom and full of encouragement to stand strong in God’s Word and firm in the faith amid false doctrines and false teachers.

This is an instructor-led course. Recordings of classroom lectures will be released weekly. It is recommended that you keep up with the lectures and assignment on a weekly basis.
